Descriptions
of Team Positions
Group Commander-
Represents the team in negotiations and overall functions of training,
development
and personnel.
Group
Executive Officer- Acts as an assistant and second in command to the Group commander.
Command
Sergeant Major- Top. The highest-ranking NCO in the Group. Yells a lot.
Group
S-1 (Operations)- Maintains operational readiness and training for the Group. Also
develops the team schedule (training and operations).
Group S-2 (Intelligence)-
Conducts research on potential operation sites for the Group, as well as
other teams.
Group
S-3 (Personnel)- Manages the team funds, ref duties, and assignments as well as updates
the SOP and recall roster.
Group
S-4 (Logistics)- Controls the inventory of team equipment. Also locates and procures
team equipment.
Group
S-5 (Civil Affairs)- Performs public relations and community support duties.
ODA
Commander-
The ODA Commander will have overall tactical control over the team’s
operational objectives and will act as a facilitator in team decisions
over SOP changes, equipment purchases, scheduling, and any other team
business.
Executive
Officer-
The XO will act as an assistant team leader, and will operate as a mission
commander on split operations.
Operations
Sergeant-
The Ops Sgt. will perform First Sgt. duties, such as pre-deployment
equipment checks, roll calls, and team member support.
Communications
- A
team radio set will be carried and maintained by the Communications (which
may not be limited to FRS) with a superior range for field to base camp
communication. The Communications will also be responsible for maintaining
code systems, call signs, and a radio communication SOP.
Medic-
The medic will operate as the team medic, real and simulated. The medic
will be responsible for carrying and maintaining a first aid kit and
possessing some first aid knowledge. In scenarios using medic cards, the
medic will hold that position.
Engineer-
The engineer will be responsible for the location, evaluation, procurement
and/or manufacture of team ordnance such as smoke devices, mines,
claymores, and simulated demo charges. In the scenario, the engineer is
also a rifleman and assists or augments the heavy weapons positions.
Heavy
Weapons-
The HWS is responsible for the manufacture or procurement, use and
maintenance of the team and individual heavy weapons, such as rocket
launchers and mortars.
SAW
Gunner-
The SAW gunner maintains a high rate of fire marker for assault fire for
team maneuvering. In split operations, he acts as the elements fire
support.
Assault
Sniper-
The sniper utilizes a precision marker and special camouflage to harass
and engage high value opponents. He is supported by another team member in
the spotter role and can augment the scout in his duties.
Recon/Scout-
The scout is the point man for team maneuvers into unknown or enemy
occupied territory. He further supports the sniper in high value
interdiction.
Tank
Commander- The tank
commander is responsible for the operation of the team’s AFVs, (Armor
and APC), including use of it’s primary and secondary weapon systems.
APC
Crewman- The APC crewman
is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the team’s armored
personnel carrier (APC).
Cavalryman- Mechanized Calvary support and defend
the team’s AFVs by performing scouting and protection duties.
